BoilerBuddy · model-specific pressure guide
Boiler pressure checks: follow your exact model manual
Boilers do not all use the same pressure target, gauge or filling arrangement. This guide does not provide a generic pressure band or filling-loop walkthrough. If the exact model and matching manufacturer instructions are not clear, do not adjust the system; use the manual finder or contact a Gas Safe engineer.
If the gauge or screen is visible without removing a cover, you can note the reading. Compare it with the user manual for the exact model and only act if that manual clearly describes a homeowner procedure.

Before any adjustment
Match the manufacturer instructions to the exact boiler
A make or broad product family alone may not identify the right procedure. Use the model or range shown on an accessible label or saved paperwork. Never remove the boiler casing to find a label.
- 1
Identify the manufacturer and exact model or range from paperwork or a label you can see safely.
- 2
Open that model’s official user manual. Check that its stated gauge, pressure target and procedure match the boiler in your home.
- 3
If you cannot match the manual, the gauge is unclear, water is visible, a control resists, or the instructions do not cover your situation, stop and contact a Gas Safe engineer.
Know when to stop
Stop if you notice
- A smell of gas, or a yellow, orange or sooty flame.
- A carbon monoxide alarm is sounding, or someone has possible CO symptoms.
- Smoke, scorching, visible damage, overheating or a leak around the boiler.
- The boiler keeps locking out or will not stay lit.
Official manufacturer guidance and manual finders
Manufacturer instructions are model-specific. Vaillant explicitly advises owners to consult the manual for their boiler because procedures differ by model. These links are starting points; they do not verify which model is installed in your home.
Need help identifying the boiler?
Use BoilerBuddy’s identification guide to record the model without opening the appliance. If the correct manual or procedure remains uncertain, do not continue with a top-up.
