BoilerBuddy · reference library
Boiler parts library — annotated.
Twenty-one common parts and indicators on a UK combi boiler — pressure gauge, reset button, pilot light, condensate pipe, expansion vessel, and the rest — each with an annotated illustration, plain-English copy, and a clear "stop here" line where it crosses past the safe-at-home DIY boundary.
How to use this page
Built for looking up, not browsing.
You almost never land here cold. You arrive from a fault-code lookup, a symptom page, or a guide that mentions a part by name. The library is the cross-reference.
Look it up when you read a guide
Any guide / symptom page / fault-code entry that names a part links into the matching card here. The library page anchors to it directly from the URL — visit `/parts-library#pressure-gauge` to jump straight to that part.
Match what you see at the boiler
Each card shows an annotated line-art illustration with arrows pointing at the feature. The "What it looks like" and "How to find it" copy is written for a homeowner with no engineering background.
Know when to stop
Common-issue badges are colour-coded: info (cosmetic), caution (DIY-friendly), urgent (engineer). Where a part is past the safe-at-home line for any fault it shows up in, the card links to that guide / symptom / fault code.
Snap the code, not the part
Don't guess at the part — the fault-code lookup gives a more precise signal. Snap a photo of the boiler display with the Snap-a-photo fault-code lookup and the exact code does the talking.
The library
Filter, search, open a part.
Each card carries an illustration with arrows pointing at the feature, the category (control, indicator, safety, external, internal), and a one-line purpose. Tap a card for the full annotated description.
Where the DIY line still applies
Reading about a part is not the same as fixing a fault.
The library tells you what the part is and why it matters. The safe-at-home check, the tools and the handoff to a Gas Safe engineer all live in the guide or symptom page that linked you here. If you arrived at a part page cold, treat it as a reference, not a fix.
