What EA means
EA means that a flame was not detected.
Safe check
Check that the gas supply is on and contact your gas supplier if it is not. If safe, look for ice at an accessible condensate outlet and an obvious blockage at the flue outlet from ground level; do not touch the flue. Thaw an accessible frozen condensate pipe from ground level with warm (not boiling) water, then reset once only.
When to contact an engineer
The code remains after one reset, the flue outlet appears blocked, or the condensate outlet cannot be reached safely; arrange a Gas Safe registered engineer.
Safety notice
A boiler fault code alone is not a gas or carbon-monoxide emergency. If you smell gas, a CO alarm sounds, anyone feels unwell, or there is an unsafe flame, leave and call 0800 111 999 from outside.
