What F.28 means
Start-up failure: ignition was unsuccessful; the gas-pressure monitor or thermal cut-out may have been triggered. The manual warns that some shared-table codes may not be visible on every product variant.
Safe check
Read and note the displayed code and visible external indicators. The ecoTEC plus user instructions say to contact a competent person if the ignition problem remains after three reset attempts; do not make repeated attempts.
When to contact an engineer
If F.28 remains or returns, arrange a Gas Safe registered engineer to diagnose the ignition system and any internal gas, electrical or safety-device cause.
Safety notice
A boiler fault code alone is not a gas or carbon-monoxide emergency. If you smell gas, a CO alarm sounds, anyone feels unwell, or there is an unsafe flame, leave and call 0800 111 999 from outside.
