What E160 means
E160 means the boiler has detected a fault with its fan or fan wiring. The fan is part of the system that moves combustion gases through the flue.
Gas Safe engineer: A Gas Safe registered engineer should diagnose the fan or wiring fault. Do not remove the casing or attempt electrical or flue repairs yourself.
A boiler fault code alone is not a gas or carbon-monoxide emergency. If you smell gas, a CO alarm sounds, anyone feels unwell, or there is an unsafe flame, leave and call 0800 111 999 from outside.
Renting? Report it to your landlord or housing provider first. They are responsible for gas safety and boiler repairs, and the repair should not cost you.
Safe check
Write down E160. Do not remove the casing, adjust internal parts or keep resetting the boiler. Arrange an inspection by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
When to contact an engineer
A Gas Safe registered engineer should diagnose the fan or wiring fault. Do not remove the casing or attempt electrical or flue repairs yourself.
